      Former Sous Chef of Year Accepts Position & Joins Young Dynamic Team

      Covina resident Sean Nemetz, who has emerged as one of Southern California’s hottest young chefs, will serve as executive chef at The Cellar, an institution in Orange County’s diverse dining scene for nearly 40 years. Most recently, he ran his own catering company in Los Angeles, but was eager to accept the position, as he and owner Ryan Dudley are lifelong friends. He had served as sous chef at The Cellar from 2004-2009 and was even nominated for Sous Chef of the Year in 2007 by the Southern California Restaurant Writers.

      “Returning to The Cellar and joining Ryan and the rest of the team is a dream come true,” said Nemetz. “I missed the creativity required to satisfy the palates of our distinguished guests not to mention the day-to-day interaction of the kitchen and wait staff.”

      Nemetz was not formally trained, but after high school, moved to Pasadena in 1999 and worked for Old Towne Restaurant & Bakery for 3 years. His next position was serving as sous chef at The Cellar where he remained for 4 years before starting his own catering company in 2009.

      At just 30 years old, Nemetz rounds out the roster of youthful power players who are working to take The Cellar to new heights including Dudley, 34, General Manager Sara St. Pierre, 33, and Sommelier Cameron Tyler, 26.
