Adoption, Foster & Kinship Care Support Group (Anaheim)

Join other adoptive foster and kinship parents for support, training, and encouragement as we learn how to better relate to our children and bring healing. The Connection: Where Hearts Meet is an interactive group study taught by Dr. Karyn Purvis, the co-founder of the Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. Dr. Purvis has coined the phrase “children from hard places” to describe children who have experienced difficulties in early development. The video and discussion will use the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) through problem-solving scenarios to provide practical skills to caregivers so they can build a stronger caregiver-child connection, which leads to better behavior. You will be encouraged and equipped with practical help based on Biblical truths and research-based interventions specifically developed for adoptive, kinship, foster or safe families. The support group meets at Saddleback Church Anaheim on Saturdays at 6:00pm. If you have children may check them into the Saddleback Kids or student program during the support group session. Certificates of attendance are issued upon request and fulfill training hours for most Orange County resource family agencies.
