      A Poet's Love: An evening of songs by Robert Schumann

      Hailed as "charming" (Opera News) and "commanding" (The Day Connecticut), Alexander Hahn’s performance career has taken him to prestigious venues across the globe. Mr. Hahn’s recent performances include his debut with the Beethoven Easter Festival of Warsaw as Pietro in Simon Boccanegra, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro with Bronx Opera, Claudius in Hamlet with Opera Ithaca, Monterone in Rigoletto with Opera Theater of Connecticut, Zuniga in Carmen with New Rochelle Opera, and the bass-baritone soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with EOS Orchestra of Beijing.

      Mr. Hahn’s operatic credits include performances of Colline in La bohème, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, King René in Iolanta, Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, as well as many others with Empire Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, and Occasional Opera NYC.

      A native of Taiwan, Chapman faculty member and collaborative pianist Clara Cheng Stosch has worked extensively in recitals, master classes and studios with renowned musicians, including pianists Malcolm Martineau, Martin Katz, Michael Boyd, and Walter Ponce, violinists William Fitzpatrick, Kurt Sassmannhaus, Mark Kaplan and Earl Carlyss, violists Donald McInnes and Robert Becker, tenor Robert White, baritone Vladimir Chernov, bass Eric Halfvarson, among others. She has played as an orchestral pianist and opera répétiteur under the batons of Maestri Jane Glover, Richard Bado, Josep Caballé-Domenech, Brent McMunn, and John Williams. Clara had given numerous performances of both solo repertory and chamber music in prestigious venues such as Zipper Hall in Los Angeles, Irvine Barclay Theater, and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, as well as international venues in Italy, Taiwan and Japan. She had also received various awards, including first prize from the Benno Rubinyi Competition and Gluck Fellowship.
